Invertebrate Hotels
An invertebrate or insect hotel, is an important habitat for insects. It is made from re-cycled materials – wooden pallets, old bricks and roof tiles, bits of old drainpipe, timber, logs and sticks from my tree surgery business, grass and hay. The construction creates an important shelter for the insects to stay in or a place to hibernate over the winter months.
Particularly beneficial for our insects, bees and butterflies that pollinate all of our crops, flowers, fruit and vegetables. Also benefitting natural predators such as ladybirds and lacewings, that help reduce and keep down the numbers of pests. This ‘Hotel’ will help all of these insects by giving them shelter over the cold winter months. |
It can also give shelter to other endangered creatures such as Stag beetles.
